Hospital Bed Safety and Operating Instructions
Purpose
Elevation of the head and feet to help alleviate pain, or for positioning of the body in ways not feasible with an ordinary bed.
Bed placement
Place bed slightly away from any walls so raising and lowering of side rails will not be hindered.
Raising head and knees
Raise the bed under the patient’s head by pressing the up arrow (top buttons) on the bed controller.
Lower by using the down arrow on the bed controller.
Raise the bed under the patient’s knees by pressing the up arrow (bottom buttons) on the bed controller.
Lower by using the down arrow on the bed controller.
Raise height of bed (full electric only) by pressing up arrow (middle buttons) on controller.
Lower by using the down arrow on the bed controller.
Bed side-rails
Support side-rail with hand while pulling out release pin located at the bottom of the side-rail at either end, and lower carefully. To raise side-rail, pull up until the side-rail locks. Do not pull on the side-rails to position patient.
Power outage
During a power outage, use the emergency hand crank that is located in the bedsprings at the foot of the bed under the mattress. Place the crank into the base of the motor(s) and turn to raise or lower head and/or knees.
